Teradata Summer Internship 2019
Summer 2019 came with the breeze for Teradata . For the first time, Teradata Global Consultancy Center kicked off “Summer Internship Program” for the students of different universities. Ten interns were hired for a six weeks internship program.

Weekly Schedule
This time it was a coincidence that the first week of internship was the celebration week. Celebrations? Yes! “Teradata 40 years celebrations”. For this, the whole office was decorated, each day of the week was designated to a special theme. Interns were part of this family and they cherished the celebrations by fully participating in decor and other activities.
In addition to this, interns were given short sessions regarding the system architecture so that they could get the taste of the work.
There are several departments in Teradata, namely:
- Data Integration
- Data Science
- Business Intelligence
- Software Development
- Data Platforms
- Managed Services
- Capability development
The second and third week of this internship program went through the overview of every department. Different people associated with each department conducted various meetings and sessions with the interns. The basic idea behind this activity was to provide interns, a bird’s eye view of department-level workflow, so to let the interns further dig down their domains.
After the departmental analysis, the fourth week was followed by the Teradata Factory. Teradata Factory is a comprehensive learning program in which qualified trainers give detailed insight of Teradata warehouse. This program consists of lectures and hands-on tasks for the attendees. The lectures are conducted in several sittings during the whole time period allocated for this scheme.
Then, after that, there was a time to recapitulate what interns learned in the whole process. For that, in the fifth and sixth week, interns were assigned to different departments. Each department offered hands-on experience to the associated interns. They spent these two weeks shadowing a variety of projects, this shadowing helped the interns to understand Teradata’s projects and their delivery mechanism.
Work Environment and Culture
Teradata believes that the environment of the organization plays an important role in its success. It provides a stimulating and encouraging environment to enable the full potential of its employees. Interns were given full chance to experience this fantastic culture of Teradata Family.

Teradata Breakout
This is a place where you can have fun. Interns used the breakout area to their utmost joy. There are a handful of games; like Chess, Foosball, Table Tennis and video games. Let’s have a glimpse of how interns enjoyed their time in Breakout:
Teradata Cares
Teradata not only cares about its workers, but it is also keen in giving back to the society. Teradata Cares is its initiative to spread love, care, and happiness in the society.
At the end of “Teradata Summer internship program 2019”, the organization’s personnel took interns to an old home in order to instil a sense of giving back to the nation. Interns spent their time with senior citizens, and shared their sufferings and happiness, leaving them with the smiles on their faces.

For me, internship at Teradata offered the perfect opportunity to enhance my knowledge, network with like-minded individuals and to set my career goals.The friendly work culture at the company is something I really enjoyed.
